At our clinic, ear wax (cerumen) removal is carried out using a Microsuction machine, and our audiologists are highly trained in this technique.
There are many benefits of Not Irritating the ear with Water.
1. Better outcomes.
2. Complete solution to the cerumen problem.
3. Less chances of experiencing unsteadiness.
What is Microsuction?
Microsuction ear wax removal involves a microscope and a specialised suction device to extract ear wax gently. The process begins with thoroughly examining your ear under a microscope, after which we employ a low-pressure suction device to eliminate any blockages.
Microsuction is considered one of the safest and most comfortable methods for ear wax removal. Since no liquids are used during the procedure, it eliminates any mess. The procedure is also closely monitored through the microscope, enhancing safety and comfort, and typically takes about 30 minutes.
– *Clear Visibility*: This method provides excellent ear wax and canal views, allowing precise and safe removal.
– *Mess-Free Process*: Since no water is involved, the risks of infection are significantly reduced compared to traditional methods like ear syringing or irrigation.
– *Safety*: Microsuction is safe for individuals with perforated eardrums, mastoid cavities, or foreign objects lodged in the ear canal.
– *Ear Infections*: Wax removal cannot be performed if you have an ear infection or are experiencing ear pain. Please consult your GP for treatment before considering this procedure.
– *Cold or Flu*: If you have a cold or flu, it is advisable to wait until you fully recover before scheduling a wax removal appointment.
We suggest using ear drops or spray for at least 3-4 days before your appointment (unless you’ve had recent ear surgery or an ear infection) to help soften the wax in the ear canal. Not using drops may affect our ability to remove impacted wax, though the appointment fee will still apply. For any urgent discomfort, please get in touch with us directly.
The procedure costs $135.00 for a 30-minute appointment for one or two ears. Please note that there can be an appointment fee even if no wax is removed.
*Special Pricing for Pensioners*: A reduced fee of $ 85.00 applies for pensioners registered with our clinic under the Government Hearing Services Program who completed a hearing assessment with us.
– *Medicare*: No Medicare rebate is available for wax removal procedures performed in an audiology clinic.
– *Health Fund*: No health fund rebates are offered for this procedure either.
